There are a number of changes and challenges that tend to mount up as we get older—from the loss of loved ones to declining health and independence.
The most widespread health conditions affecting those 65 and older include arthritis, heart disease, stroke, cancer, pneumonia and the flu. Accidents, especially falls that result in hip fractures, are also unfortunately common in the elderly. Many elders are coping with at least one health condition, and some face the challenge of living with multiple health problems. Since the elderly are living longer, there needs to be more ways for them to enjoy their golden years. This edition of The Issues focuses on aging and some of those aging issues. Host, Sarah Bernard shows us three different perspectives from people of different walks of life to share the issues and some resolutions.
