Tim Lampley is currently a freelance reporter/producer for REVOLT-TV, the multi-platform network from Sean Combs, NewsOne (a division of Radio One, Inc) and St. Louis television station STL-TV. He has worked as an anchor/reporter at WMBD-TV (CBS) in Peoria, IL and WTVO-TV (ABC) in Rockford IL. He was an overnight anchor for KSDK-TV Newschannel 5 (NBC) in St. Louis for five years before going to Washington DC to work for Black Entertainment Television.
At BET, Lampley was a news producer for the show “BET Tonight with Tavis Smiley”. He also reported for BET Tonight, BET News, NYLA, Turnstyle, and Maad Sports. Lampley is credited with doing one of the last in depth one-on-one interviews with the legendary Luther Vandross before the singer suffered a stroke that ultimately caused him his life. In addition, Lampley was the only on-the-ground national correspondent for both REVOLT-TV and Radio One (NewsOne) in 2014, during the uprising in Ferguson, Missouri.
Lampley earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications and Sociology from Southern Illinois University.
