This week, Ask Dr. Echols is about St. Louis City and County issuing a joint health advisory regarding the wearing of face masks indoors even if you have been fully vaccinated. Residents had questions about the advisory.
Here are the questions asked:
Alexis from 63128 asked, “I thought once I got vaccinated for COVID-19, I could return to normal activities. Why are masks being recommended even for vaccinated persons?”
Barbara from 63118 asked, “Why are teens and younger people so susceptive to this variant that we’ve heard so much about?”
Malik from 63109 asked, “I haven’t seen a significant increase in reported COVID-19 cases in the City of St. Louis. Why did the city join the county in revising face covering recommendations?”
DeShawn from 63139 asked, “I saw where people who got the Johnson and Johnson vaccine should get a booster vaccine. Is the Department of Health recommending getting a booster vaccination?”
Brad from 63147 asked, “Why should I be concerned about the COVID-19 vaccines? I’m young and healthy, plus I heard African Americans have a lower chance of getting the virus?”
