Laura tells us why it’s so nice to be able to hold events there and talks about a specific one called, “Canvasas and Cocktails, and Hudson and HooDoo Cats”, coming up Friday, February 15th. It’s definitely a high-caliber art gallery hosting some impressive national juried exhibitions. On 14th February 2013, V-Day’s 15th Anniversary, we are inviting ONE BILLION women and those who love them, to WALK OUT, DANCE, RISE UP, and DEMAND an end to this violence. Katie Flaschar, Outreach Coordinator of Safe Connections, stops by to talk about their mission, their upcoming fundraiser “Together” at Ritz Carlton, and to announce they will join activists, writers, thinkers, celebrities, and women and men across the world in solidarity to express their outrage, and to demand change. It’s the first-ever event in St. Louis and will be held at the Missouri History Museum, February 14, from 4:30-5 p.m. Be a part of the movement that’s going to move the earth.

Mayoral Candidate Forum

STL TV, the City of St. Louis’ Local Government Access Channel, will be airing the Mayoral Candidate Forum hosted by Partnership for Downtown St. Louis that took place on Tuesday, January 29th at the Central Library Auditorium. This Mayoral Candidate Forum provided downtown residents, business owners, and employees the opportunity to become informed about the issues and the candidates. This Mayoral Candidate Forum was presented in partnership with the League of Women Voters, the St. Louis Public Library, and Community Builders Network.

The forum will air on STL TV at 7:00pm from Thursday, January 31st until Sunday, February 3rd.

The American Heart Association is the nation’s oldest and largest voluntary health organization dedicated to fighting heart disease and stroke. Their main goal is to help build healthier lives by preventing, treating and defeating these diseases. Since 1963, February has been celebrated as American Heart Month, a time to urge Americans to join the battle. February is also the signature month for the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women campaign, and the message that heart disease is not only a man’s problem. Besides still being our No.1 killer, it affects more women than men and is more deadly than all forms of cancer combined. An estimated 43 million women in the U.S. are affected by heart disease. In recognition of the 10th National Wear Red Day on Feb. 1, 2013, Go Red for Women is asking that across America, Women Go Red. The American Heart Association Greater St. Louis Executive Director, Tracy A. Brazelton, joins STL TV LIVE host, Sarah Bernard, to break it all down.
